About me

I’m Eric Davies, an ex-librarian who in previous incarnations worked for the British Standards Institution, managed a reference library, ran training courses on EU information, and commuted weekly from North Wales to Hull. In my present incarnation – and in my 22nd year of self-employment – I provide a range of content creation and checking services. Why? Because I’ve been writing for a variety of organisations for over four decades and have an eye for detail. I currently write daily news items for Croner-i, a company providing information and advice to business owners and professional advisors. For other clients, I can create short news items or longer articles for websites, blogs and social media platforms, writing from scratch or re- working existing materials (for more details, see the Words page on this site – and also note that examples of my writing can be seen on my WordPress-powered blog I wrote this). In terms of visual content, I can create and/or provide not only still images, but also animated doodles. Again, more details are available on this site via the Images page, as well as on my dedicated DoodlyDog website. In addition to creating written content, I can also check it – not only for typos and other errors, but also for whether it makes sense. It’s surprising how many people produce poorly written materials and distribute them online and/or in print. To avoid being one of them, visit my Proofreading page.
