Creating words

I have been writing for a variety of organisations for over four decades, covering topics as diverse as civil engineering hydraulics, child protection, EU information policy, construction, health and safety, and international trade. Now in my 22nd year of self-employment, I write daily news items for Croner-i, a company providing information and advice to business owners and professional advisors. I also summarise UK legislation in a number of policy areas, including the environment and road transport. For some 25 years, I regularly wrote about information-related aspects of the EU, contributing to newsletters, editing a journal and compiling a dictionary of EU abbreviations. I also researched and wrote two booklets for the European Commission on the impact of EU funding in UK regions. I can create short news items or longer articles, writing from scratch or re-working existing content. Some examples of my writing can be seen on my WordPress- powered blog I wrote this. As much of my writing involves summarising longer documents, I tend to be good at producing succinct texts, with an emphasis on keeping paragraphs short and their sense easy to follow. I am a member of The Society for Editors and Proofreaders – a professional body for people who strive to make text accurate and readable. Interested?
